Bregado Flax Junior School
BACKGROUND
Like most schools in the Virgin Islands, the Bregado Flax Educational Center (BFEC), Virgin Gorda’s public high school, suffered severe damage. As a result, students have been attending school in shifts and some classes were being held in a tent. Unite BVI in partnership with the Ministry of Education rebuilt one of the three buildings, which is now ready to receive senior students for the 2019/20 academic year.

Activity
The RDA has received a Statement of Requirement to make improvements to the tent where the Junior School students are currently taught. This will include improving the electrical supply, ensuring the tent is waterproof and installing partitions to create separate classrooms and staff rooms.
Result
The improvements to the tent, will improve the conditions for three classrooms, one office and a staff room. This will contribute to the improved learning and working conditions in the school as the shift system is ended. Work on the tented classrooms will ensure better teaching and learning conditions in the temporary facility, until such time as the school can be fully redeveloped
