The rehabilitation and improvement to the infrastructure of the Central Administration Complex is set to commence following the receipt of $11.4million.
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE today accepted a cheque on behalf of his Government from NAGICO Insurance for a claim settlement following the damage to the buildings caused by hurricane Irma.
Premier Smith said, “Significant damage was done to the buildings which house our public officers, therefore, several departments were displaced as a result of this.The receipt of this cheque is timely and will help to improve our infrastructure with greater resilience and enable a more effective and efficient public service.”
The Premier took the opportunity to express gratitude to public officers who continue to make significant contributions by way of their service to the Territory despite the challenges faced in the aftermath of the 2017 hurricanes.
The Territory’s leader is eager to see all departments housed under one central complex with improved operating conditions.
The public can look forward to departments that are currently displaced to eventually be restored to the Central Administration Complex which would ensure ease of accessibility.
The Government of the Virgin Islands remains committed to rebuilding the Territory stronger, smarter, greener, better and more resilient.
