Applications are invited for the position of Project Associate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The position is based in the British Virgin Islands.

The candidate should have a strong financial and project administration background and will work closely with the Head of UNDP Project Office in BVI to ensure that coordinated, effective and high quality technical and operational support is provided to the government.

Under the direction of the UNDP Head of Project Office, the Project Associate will be primarily responsible for providing high quality project and administrative, coordination and monitoring support for the implementation of the project. The successful candidate will work with the UNDP Head of Project Office to maintain key strategic and monitoring functions with government and other partners, to coordinate project implementation in line with the objective and outcomes of the recovery programme’s respective projects. These functions include:

  • Administration and coordination
  • Project documentation management
  • Project development and implementation
  • Financial management, monitoring and reporting
  • Other duties related to the work of the recovery programme as required

Candidates with experience in project or programme management and experience in the Caribbean are highly desirable. Applicants should have an appreciation of disaster risk, social and physical vulnerability and impact, and other related sustainable human development issues; demonstrated evidence of research and reporting skills and demonstrable computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Other desired competencies include professionalism, team work and planning & organisational skills.

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related field and a minimum of two years of work experience in financial management OR an Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and a minimum of five years of work experience in financial management. Project management certification is also desirable

Applicants applying for the position must submit a curriculum vitae including past experience in similar projects and at least three references. A financial proposal is also required. This proposal shall specify a total monthly amount, along with payment terms around specific and measurable (qualitative and quantitative) deliverables. Payments are based upon output, that is, upon delivery of the services specified in the Terms Of Reference.
