{"id":1228,"date":"2018-02-20T16:19:52","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T16:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bvirecovery.vg\/?p=1228"},"modified":"2019-03-20T16:24:26","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T16:24:26","slug":"electricity-restoration-tortola-now-98","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bvirecovery.vg\/old\/electricity-restoration-tortola-now-98\/","title":{"rendered":"Electricity Restoration on Tortola now at 98%"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Restoration of electricity on Tortola is about 98 percent complete.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s according to\u00a0General Manager for the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC), Mr. Leroy Abraham who also noted that the corporation has also completed 95 percent of its work on Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke.<\/p>\n<p>Restoration works are expected to be completed in a few weeks with March being earmarked for full restoration of electricity to the Territory.<\/p>\n<p>Customers in the following areas are therefore asked to make preparations for reconnection:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Belmont Estate<\/li>\n<li>Steele Point<\/li>\n<li>Little Thatch<\/li>\n<li>Windy Hill<\/li>\n<li>Romney Park<\/li>\n<li>Havers Estate<\/li>\n<li>Tredfall<\/li>\n<li>Doty Estate<\/li>\n<li>Shannon Estate<\/li>\n<li>Sage Mountain<\/li>\n<li>Luck Hill<\/li>\n<li>Brewers Bay<\/li>\n<li>Mount Healty<\/li>\n<li>Georges North Side<\/li>\n<li>Fat Hog\u2019s Bay<\/li>\n<li>Paraquita Bay<\/li>\n<li>Hodge\u2019s Creek<\/li>\n<li>Sophie Bay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr. Abraham is encouraging residents to seek the professional advice of a certified electrical inspector. He said urging home and property owners should ensure that all generators are disconnected from the main electrical line in preparation for reconnection to ensures their safety as well as that of the linesmen.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Abraham added that the completion of reconnections is contingent on the arrival of materials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been awaiting transformers and most of the overhead main distribution has been built with preparations for the transformers already being made.
