The Board of Directors of the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency has appointed Anthony McMaster, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer effective 2 March, 2020.<\/p>\n
McMaster was selected following a rigorous internal review and recruitment process.\u00a0 He will continue to drive the Implementation of the Government off the Virgin Islands\u2019 recovery agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful to be chosen to be in such a prestigious position.\u00a0 It is a great opportunity for a BVIslander to become the Head of the Recovery and Development Agency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He acknowledged the entire RDA team for his accomplishment, \u201cI don\u2019t think I could have gotten here without the support of the entire team.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr. McMaster credited the former Head of the RDA Mr. Paul Bayly for his leadership and for creating a strong team to deliver the British Virgin Islands recovery.<\/p>\n
His appointment comes on the heels of Mr. Bayly\u2019s resignation which was announced on 14 January and will take effect on the 20th March.\u00a0 This will allow for a handover period to ensure a smooth transition.<\/p>\n
Anthony McMaster joined the Public Service in the Ministry of Health and Social Development as the Finance and Planning Officer in 2002.\u00a0 Ten years later, he transferred to the Ministry of Communications and Works and was subsequently promoted to the post of Permanent Secretary.<\/p>\n
In February 2019, he was seconded to serve as the Director of Operations, now Director of Programme Delivery for the RDA.<\/p>\n
McMaster has a Diploma in Accounting from the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and progressed to complete his professional exams with the Association of Certified Chartered Accounts (ACCA).<\/p>\n
He is trained in project management and administration by the Royal Institute of Public Administration and holds a Post Graduate degree in Management from the Manchester Metropolitan University.<\/p>\n
Anthony McMaster led teams in the development of many national projects including coordinating the BVI\u2019s public infrastructure recovery efforts post Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.<\/p>\n
