In January 2023, the grand opening ceremony for completed works on the Elmore Stoutt High School Redevelopment Project was held, facilitating the resumption of full-day teaching and learning for the approximately 1,400 students of the school. This project has been the largest implemented by the RDA to date. Additional works in the longer-term master plan for the school include a cafeteria and auditorium. Also in January, a contract signing and groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Joint Marine Shore Base which is jointly funded by Central Government and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. This project will provide a central hub from which the RVIPF, Customs and Immigration can launch joint operations, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Works have continued on the Jost Van Dyke Multipurpose Education Facility with formwork, concrete casting and blockwork continuing on the ground and second floors. Plans are being made for an on-site visit by Inros Lackner, the design consultants for the West End Ferry Terminal in February, to facilitate finalisation of detailed planning towards this project moving into its procurement phase in the coming months. Based on the current program, the RDA has successfully completed 38 or 51% of the 75 project interventions assigned. In the coming weeks, the RDA will seek to confirm the list of projects in the Recovery to Development program as we continually work to deliver our mandate.
