MONTHLY REPORT – January 2024
In January 2024, the Jost Van Dyke Multipurpose Educational Facility’s official opening ceremony was held, representing a significant milestone of education sector project achievement for the RDA and the first of its kind multifaceted educational facility for the people of Jost Van Dyke and the BVI Territory at large. Efforts are currently underway to complete minor outstanding issues towards full closure of this project. Works on the Joint Marine Shore Base building continued in January 2024, with completed installation of doors, windows, handrails, wall tiles, the boat rack platform, car park and road to boat. For the West End Ferry Terminal project, the Town and Country Planning Department and the Building Authority issued full approval for the West End Ferry Terminal project.
MONTHLY REPORT – December 2023
In December 2023, the Jost Van Dyke Multipurpose Educational Facility achieved substantial completion, with successful electrical inspections completed, and completion of the external driveway and parking lot. Installation of internal fixtures and fittings continued in December 2023, with procured furniture and equipment delivered to the school site. Ongoing installation of furniture and fittings are expected to facilitate the opening of school in early January 2024. Works on the Joint Marine Shore Base building continued in December 2023, with completed installation of internal doors, ceiling, floor and wall tiles and stonework to foundation walls. Some outstanding required MEP works await the arrival of the main electrical panel, which will facilitate this project reaching substantial completion. For the West End Ferry Terminal project, full approval of the detailed design is awaited from the Building Authority. In December 2023, the contract for the geotechnical survey for the Agriculture and Fisheries Complex and Farmers’ Reservoir in Paraquita Bay was prepared for signature. Contract signature is expected to take place in early 2024.
MONTHLY REPORT – November 2023
In November 2023, construction works continued for the JVD Primary School and Joint Marine Shore Base. Other projects such as the West End Ferry Terminal, Agriculture and Fisheries Complex & Farmers’ Reservoir, and the Trellis Bay Welcome Center continued in planning phase. Specifically, for the JVD Primary School, this mainly involved electrical works such as installation of the main electrical distribution system, electrical outlet and switch covers, exit lights and signs. The project is now scheduled to reach substantial completion by the end of December 2023, facilitating anticipated official handover and opening for the school’s Lent term in January 2024. For the Joint Marine Shore Base, installation of windows, drywall partitions, wall tiles and access ramp extension were completed in November.
MONTHLY REPORT – October 2023
In October 2023, a community meeting was held for the Construction of Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre, following the construction contract signing in late August and the completion of demolition works in September. The community meeting was held to display project designs and inform the public of expected construction times and requirements. This project is scheduled to be completed by March 2025. Works continued on the Joint Marine Shore Base building in October, with the installation of windows, drywall partitions, wall tiles, and the wastewater treatment system completed.
MONTHLY REPORT – September 2023
In September 2023, works on the Jost Van Dyke (JVD) Multipurpose Educational Facility continued, involving internal finishings and completion of exterior and interior painting. This project is now scheduled to be delivered within the fourth quarter of this year. Works continued on the Joint Marine Shore Base in September, with continued MEP works and installation of windows and doors. This project is ahead of schedule and may be completed before the end of this year, or early next year, before its February 2024 deadline.
