In June 2022, work continued across ongoing RDA-implemented projects. Specifically in June, work continued in earnest on the Redevelopment of the Elmore Stoutt High School: Block wall construction for the upper floors of the classroom blocks continued, and plastering works commenced. Contracts have been secured for fixtures and fittings including windows, doors and fans, and these are being executed. Estate House #1/AG’s Residence was handed over to the Deputy Governor’s Office in June, and the recently completed Virgin Gorda Sports Complex and Road Town Police Station will be handed over to Central Government in the coming weeks. Also in June 2022, the prequalifications for construction of the main building of the Marine Base were issued. Full tenders from these prequalified contractors are due in mid-July and construction on the Marine Base is expected to begin in August. A contract for construction of the JVD Primary School is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks, facilitating construction commencement.
In terms of CDB-RRL funded projects, in June 2022, installation of the water line for the Fish Bay road project activity was completed. The line has been pressure-tested, facilitating completion of concrete road resurfacing, expected to be completed in early July. Following asphalting, this last road activity will be completed. A final decision is awaited for the external design of the West End Ferry Terminal, for which electronic public consultations will be held in the coming weeks, and these decisions will feed into the detailed design of the terminal that proceeds to procurement. Similarly, planning continues for the Magistrate’s Court and Eslyn Henley Richez projects, following which these will proceed to procurement.
