In October 2022, work continued across ongoing RDA-implemented projects. Specifically, in October, work continued in earnest on the Redevelopment of the Elmore Stoutt High School, with continued internal and external finishing works, and installation of fixtures and fittings. Also in October, the tender period for the Joint Marine Shore Base came to a close, and tender submissions received from three prequalified contractors are under evaluation. Following the commencement of construction works on the Jost Van Dyke Primary School, a Multi-Purpose Educational Facility in September, in October formwork and concrete casting of the building were undertaken, following excavation works. This project is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2023 school year (September 2023).
In terms of CDB-RRL funded projects, in October 2022, asphaltic works on the Fish Bay road were completed, with weather conditions suitable enough for the work to be undertaken. Required speed bumps have also been installed on the Fish Bay Road. Completion of asphaltic works on the Fish Bay road brings all of the RDA-implemented CDB RRL road projects to a close, with a total of eight (8) projects completed across Tortola, stabilising slopes and improving road safety at previously undermined and flood-prone areas.
Also in October 2022, work continued on the detailed design of the West End Ferry Terminal, incorporating the chosen external façade. Work on the detailed design for the Magistrate’s Court (comprehensive Halls of Justice) project continued in October 2022, and this project is expected to proceed to procurement in Q1 2023.
