BACKGROUND
The Paraquita Bay area has long been designated as farmland, supporting both livestock and crop farming for several decades. Farmers in the area depend on water for essential activities such as irrigation, livestock care, and maintaining their farms. As water demand in this agricultural region increases, the existing infrastructure is being upgraded with a reservoir. This enhancement is aimed at improving water supply reliability to better support the agricultural sector. The initiative acknowledges the vital role of Paraquita Bay’s farming community in the British Virgin Islands and is committed to meeting their water needs in a sustainable manner.
Activity
Activity 1: Design & Construction Management : Tank & Foundation
Activity one consists of the design works to create a water storage tank and its foundation which will constitute a pivotal stride toward empowering the farming community and fostering long-term agricultural prosperity in the Virgin Islands.
Activity 2: Supply and Installation: Tank & Foundation
The Farmer’s Reservoir project aims at providing water storage installed for agricultural use. Once the design works are completed, the reservoir and its supporting infrastructure will be bulit on the identified site.
Actvity 3: Design-Build: Supply and Trunk Mains
This activity encompasses the design, supply, and installation of both the supply and trunk mains (transmission lines). The supply main is will transport water from the Intermediary Pump Station (IPS) to the newly constructed reservoir. Meanwhile, the trunk main will connect the reservoir to a designated point within the agricultural plots at Paraquita Bay.
